How to take a driver's ed course in South Dakota
In order to complete your driver's license application, you are required to complete a state approved driver's education course in South Dakota. If you live in South Dakota and are younger than 18 you must enroll in a driver's education course.
You can enroll in a driver's education in South Dakota through public or private school driver's ed programs.
Whether you enroll in a private course or public, the content will be the same:
- Classroom periods, focusing on issues including alcohol safety and drug abuse awareness, defensive driving, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue donation.
- In-car instruction sessions, divided into periods of actual driving and periods of observation time.
