If you're under 18, Obtaining your learner's permit is the beginning process in becoming a licensed driver in the state of Arizona

To start the process of getting your learner's permit in Arizona, you'll need to be at least 15 years and six months old.

Steps to take to get your learner's permit in Arizona:

  • Download a copy of the Arizona driver's manual, or head to your local DMV office and pick one up.
  • Go to your local DMV office, make sure to have your parent or legal guardian with you.
  • You will be required to have both of your parents sign your application if your parents are divorced but share custody, if both parents cannot come in you can have them sign the application in front of a notary public. If you only have a single legal guardian or your parents are married you will only be required to have one signature.
  • Remember, the guardian that signs your learner's permit application will also be responsible to sign for your driver's license application.

After passing your exam, you will be issued your Arizona learner's permit. You will have to pay a $7 fee, and your Arizona learner's permit will be valid for one year.
