The state of Illinois requires you to be enrolled in a driver's education course. You also have to be 15 years of age or older before being allowed to apply for a learner's permit in Illinois.
You will have to pass a written exam in order to receive a learner's permit in Illinois. The best way to ensure you pass the exam will be to study the Illinois driver's manual. After passing your written exam, you will then have to practice driving with your parent or legal guardian (they must be 21 years of age or older). You will have to log a minimum of 50 hours of driving practice, and 10 of the house must me at night.
When driving with your learner's permit in Illinois you are only allowed to drive until 10 p.m. on weeknights, and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Your Illinois learner's permit is valid for two years.
