How to get a driver's license in New Mexico
You may apply for a new driver's license at any Motor Vehicle Division in New Mexico.
To apply for a New Jersey driver's license:
To apply for a driver's license in New Mexico you must be 15 years of age or older. If you happen to be between the ages of 15 - 17 you will be required to successfully pass a driver's education class.You will also be required to present parental consent, and provide proof you have completed a graduated driver license class. The next step in obtaining a driver's license in New Mexico is to download a copy of the New Mexico driver's manual, and prepare your self for the following exams that are mandatory for you to pass a vision screening, a written knowledge test, and a road skills driving test. You can then head over to your local Motor Vehicle Division center.
- Appropriate identification.
- Proof of New Mexico residency.
- Proof of identification number. It can be any of the following:
- Social Security Number.
- A verification document from Social Security confirming your SSN.
- A valid passport.
- Matricula Consular issued after February 1, 2005 by the Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque or El Paso.
- Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) card or the letter from the IRS issuing your ITIN.
If you are between the ages of 18 - 24 and this is your first time applying for a driver's license in New Mexico the process is a little different.
