Reinstate Suspended License in South Dakota

In South Dakota, you must surrender your suspended license to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) before they can determine the period of time for which your license should be suspended. It is therefore advisable that you surrender your license as soon as you find out the state has suspended your license. Once you find when you can reinstate your license (the state will notify you by mail approximately 30 days before you become eligible for reinstatement), you will need to pay a fee ranging from $50 to $200, as well as an application fee. Note that if you have not complied with South Dakota's mandates for reinstatement of a suspended license (i.e.: DUI counseling, child support payments), your driving privileges cannot be reinstated.
